Skagen Hiking Festival
Skagen Hiking Festival was arranged for the first time in September 2017 and became a fantastic weekend with lots of happy hikes, sunshine, blue sky and high spirits. Therefore we plan to repeat the success from 7th to 9th September 2018. Once again, it will be a weekend that offers plenty of hiking opportunities, regardless of physical fitness and previous experience. The most important thing is to get outdoors, enjoy nature, get lots of fresh air, listen to good stories on the way and perhaps make new acquaintances. The nature here at the top of Denmark is extremely beautiful and special, and the region has a quite varied history as well. The hikes will take you over the heaths, through dune plantations, along the coastline, to the dune Råbjerg Mile and the Skagen Gren headland. Local guides will accompany you on all hikes and show you paths, which you may not be able to find otherwise.
Hikes start at Skagen Strand Hotel and Holiday Centre. Here, you will receive your packed lunch before you start and you can join the communal eating morning and evening, also if you do not stay at the hotel. Skagen Strand is also where the festive Saturday night party will be arranged. If you need a place to spend the night(s), we offer fully equipped and comfortable holiday houses with room for up to 7 persons. Then you will be right at the centre of the events. The festival will be organised by Skagen Strand Hotel and Holiday Centre in cooperation with the National Forest and Nature Agency, the City of Fredrikshavn, the Danish Hikers’ Guild, the association Fredrikshavn Fodslaw and freelance nature guide Villy K. Hansen.
The purpose of the hiking festival is to promote hiking activities and increase the knowledge of our unique nature here at the top of Denmark.
